Based on Matthew 9:9-13:

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

In Matthew 8 and 9, the gospel writer, in one masterful brushstroke after another, paints a rich, multi-layered portrait of Jesus. Through dramatic storytelling, Jesus is King above leprosy, sickness, fever, thunderstorms, demons, paralysis, sin, chronic illness, blindness and even death. Interwoven in and through these stories are little portraits of discipleship.
